We have the pleasure to invite you to the exhibition of the famous Polish artist from Sandomierz, Mr. Cezary Łutowicz. The vernissage of the exhibition "Scarcer than diamond" will take place in the Ambermoda Gallery in Sopot (12-16 Grunwaldzka St.) on Friday 12th March 2010 at 7:00 PM. 

The exhibition belongs to the series of events related to Amberif Fair and will be opened until 30th March.

Searching for the striped flint, everytime you encounter the name of the artist from sandomierz - Mr Cezary Łutowicz. It is very rare that an artist is so strongly associated with a particular material that he or she uses - just like Mr Łutowicz is connected to flint. It is also very rare that a mineral, which used to be popular in one epoch, after ages of oblivion, comes back to use thanks to the same features, but in a completely different function. Not often can you observe a situation when, throughout 35 years, a stone regarded as waste is "promoted" to material which can be an element of altars or pectorals, aspiring to be the "Polish diamond".

Once upon a time I found my way to to the mine of striped flint in Krzemionki Opatowskie. It turnes out that this stone has been excavated for over 2500 years, laboriously and with a lot of efforts. It was used to manufacture small axes, none of which carry any traces of use – it seems that their role was related to magic and rituals, whereas the utilitarian function was secondary. They were placed in graves,
the mediums of sorcery, religion, something undefined.
And what is a stone in jewellery? What is the beginnig of jewellery? Amulets, symbols... distinction, membership of a group, social status. Communication with society. Completion of my ego. My wealth, pride, fashion, style, faith, credits, splendour... protection against...
